One Another

ONE ANOTHER (In Post-production)

Director

As three of the filmmaker’s loved ones confront the possible end of intimate friendships, ONE ANOTHER chronicles their efforts to find a way forward. Over multiple years, the film traces the ways that friendships support and shape us as they are broken, tested, and remade.

The film uses verite and personal archives to interweave the stories of Lorri, Giorgia, and Joe. Joe is ready to stop running and leave a chaotic approach to relationships behind. Searching for stability, he moves to the Bay Area to be closer to his family and find a queer community he has longed for. Lorri is the latest in a line of single mothers reimaging her own network of care. In the 70s, her mother moved into a trailer park with a group of single moms to create their own social safety net—a model Lorri is still replicating with her friend Lisa. Meanwhile, Giorgia is facing long-buried childhood memories spurred by the end of a longtime friendship. After experiencing her first bipolar manic episode, she realizes she must face those memories head-on.

As we watch their experiences unfold, we see that implicated in friendship are deep feelings about identity, past traumas, happy memories, and lifelong desires. Through personal stories with deeply relatable themes, ONE ANOTHER is an invitation to decide the roles we want friendship to play in our lives.
